Got the "Service Engine Soon" light on today, I was just leaving the other farm about 110km away from where I live. Car ('05 350Z) had an immediate loss of power, so I shut it off, inspected all the fluid levels, googled it, tightened the gas cap, and then after re-starting I still had the code.
Shit.
So I limped it into the nearest town's Lordco, bought a OBD II reader, downloaded !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , realized the reader only worked with the company's proprietary software / App...
Shit.
Downloaded the EasyDiag App, (which was 25+ megabytes instead of Torque's 2.7Mb, why)? and then screwed around with it trying to get the reader registered and making accounts and copious bullshit.
Anyway, I eventually pulled the code P0340, which corresponds to the camshaft position sensor on the passengers side...
So I go in to Lordco to see what the price is on one, maybe order one to the town where I live, and they had closed about 5 minutes earlier while I'm screwing around with the barely-English app with horrible UI.
Shit! For the third time.
Anyway, after having a great deal of trouble getting her started in the Lordco parking lot, I drove the last 60km home, averaging 30.2 mpg @ 68 MPH, so at least mileage wasn't affected. However, she's very hard to start, loses power randomly while driving, and stalled once while idling. Tomorrow morning I'm ordering a new sensor, and hoping like hell that that's the cause, since:
* Visually inspect all the wiring and connectors in the circuit
* Check for continuity in the circuit wiring
* Check the operation (voltage) of the camshaft position sensor
* Replace the camshaft position sensor as required
* Check the crankshaft position circuit as well
* Replace circuit wiring and/or connectors as required
* Diagnose/replace the PCM as required
I'm gonna hope like hell it's the camshaft position sensor (bank 1) because the other side is much harder to get at, as is the crankshaft position sensor, and I don't wanna deal with the PCM.

I wish you the best of luck! If that's the code I bet it's just the sensor!

Hopefully, I've been reading around on the my350Z forum, and in about 80% of cases a new sensor fixed all the problems!
And they have a very detailed guide of how to swap the sensor, it's fairly visible but not super easily accessible, wish I had smaller hands!

I wish! I would have gotten a sharpie and asked them to sign my car!
